EPQ - how did you find it

why did you decide to do it and how did you do it? Meaning how did you balance writing a research paper with A Levels, social life, etc. if anyone has any research resources or tips that'd be really helpful. Thank you in advance

Hi!

My name's Katy and I did an EPQ in college out of fear of not getting the grades I needed for uni and I got an A*! I would say definitely make sure you dedicate atleast 4 hours a week and if you have free time always do a bit more so that you're ahead of anyone. This way it won't be too stressful when coming to the workload!

In terms of the balance, it's so important to always have a break (hence dedicating a certain amount of hours) as then you will still have time to revise subjects and be social!

For research I used a lot of Google scholar and books at waterstones, it's really good to have a variety of resources as it shows you have researched the topic thoroughly and have both primary and secondary data (Show this in your bibliography or do a research plan!!)

I also used a website called mybib for my harvard referencing, it does It for you! You just have to put your source in. It also does the bibliography reference for you which is super helpful and way less stressfull!

I would also chat to your supervisor about this and see what they say as they have helped students through this before!

I have a whole post about the EPQ

My epq tips

so feel free to give that a read and ask anything! I've got the post on watch so if you ask anything I'll try to answer you as quick as possible!

Hope this helps!

Hi @based_J

I did an EPQ during Year 13! I found it really interesting as I could choose the topic and it was a good break from revising for my other subjects. It also helped me to develop my skills, such as referencing and essay writing, which has been helpful for completing assignments at uni.

I made sure to plan out my revision and EPQ so that I could fit everything in around the other things that I had to do. I tried to keep on top of it and avoid leaving it all to the last minute.

Hope that helps!
