Please don't use Madas it hasn;t been updated recently as the owner died.

Are you taking Edexcel? If so then Dr Frost is a good website:

Year 12 content: https://www.drfrost.org/explorer.php?coid=12814

Year 13: https://www.drfrost.org/explorer.php?coid=12815

For maths I mainly use questions from the edexcel textbook we use in school as well as pmt and sometimes madas so I think there’s definitely enough from those sources, you rly don’t need anymore. Tbf my school provided us with loads of maths questions (I have no clue where they get them from) so I use those too. Chem I just do pmt and maybe try some of the older pmt questions from the old spec. You could also do questions from different spec- they still test the same stuff at the end of the day. Honestly the large data set is the worst thing- there’s only rly gonna be 1 question on it and I’ll bfr, I haven’t even looked at it yet 😂. But just know the units for each variables and do some pmt Qs and you should be fine. It’s not heavily tested.

A year 13 student does not count, why?

@DerDracologe you as year 12 student might have a question to mathematics or biology at A levels. That is your chance!

Hi :wavey: Im in year 12 and do Bio and Maths.
When did you start your personal statement?
How did you decide what to include in your personal statement?
How did you go about choosing unis?
How big is the step up to year 13 for bio and maths and what can i (reasonably) do to get ahead over the summer?

thought they would know just as much as I do about a levels and uni application so won’t have any questions for me.

Heyy, I planned my PS start of summer and wrote it right after my UCAT was over. I spoke mainly about the stuff I did which I could talk about the most which included my long term hobbies, my Work experience and volunteering and I linked them to transferable skills which would make me a good doctor. Talk about stuff like how it shows you maintain a work life balance and how something demonstrates patience, compassion, teamwork, leadership etc. but honestly as long as u write a decent PS it rly doesn’t matter- they don’t look at it for med.
For unis, I visited open days and picked the ones I liked the most. After my UCAT I applied accordingly. I made sure to keep a safety too. Look at how each uni assess your application as it can vary. Some unis also take into account UCAT after interview but some don’t. Read into their course structure as well. I liked UCLs course structure which is a bit traditional but still provides patient contact unlike Oxbridge. But most med unis do PBL so I did have to apply to some PBL ones as a safety.
Honestly the jump to yr 13 is bigger than the jump to ye 12 but it’s manageable. I wouldn’t recommend reading ahead but instead making sure your yr 12 content is solid.

It might well change the way you present the info - we can't use 'old' advice to structure a new PS.

If you are who you claim to be, shouldn't you be revising?

I am actually, and I still have free time to relax and do other stuff instead sitting and revising 24/7- it’s called multitasking 😀

Hi tysm for willing to give advice! Truly truly appreciated!!
Just wanted to ask, I heard UCL does interview selection based on ranking UCAT, was that the case from your experience?
Also, in terms of the UCAT when did you start studying for it, and if you don't mind me asking what would be your best tips for the UCAT?
Finally, I wanted to ask as Nottigham differentiates between grade 8s and 9s in their interview selection process, do you think it'd be competitive of me to consider applying as I got 6 9s, 4 8s and 2 7s at GCSE?

Tysm for offering to help, and I know I have a few questions, so please do not feel like you need to respond immediately 💗💗

No problem- I love giving advice out haha.

Yes UCL only really looks at UCAT score to select candidates for interview. As long as you got band 3 you are fine. Then they rank everyone based on UCAT score and select the top 900 ish. I’d say if your UCAT is in the top 15% you stand a good chance of getting selected.
I started UCAT prep in June though I wishhh I started in jan. I wasn’t someone who was naturally good at UCAT and I did come out with a score in the 2900s so I can’t say I did badly but it was definitely the worst most stressful summer of my life. For UCAT find a method for each section that works best for YOU. It doesn’t matter what works best for another person. That’s why start UCAT prep early as possible.
Nottingham do differentiate between 9s and 8s which was good for me at least and it looks like it would be good for you too- https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/medicine/study-with-us/undergraduate/undergraduate-medicine/undergraduate-selection-process.aspx#:~:text=Medicine%20BMBS%20(A100),in%20Maths%20and%20English%20Language
here’s the link as to how the select candidates for interview.

I think you will be just fine gcse wise for Nottingham but really focus on the UCAT now especially SJT if you are considering Nottingham as they love band 1s more than any other uni.
Happy to help! Dw about all the questions 🙂
