Clearing for engineering

Hi,
I got rejected from Southampton and Bath for mechanical engineering (which were my top choices) and was wondering if
1. anyone knows how likely MechEng will be in clearing for Southampton and Bath?
2. It Is too risky to go through clearing considering I have an offer from Exeter already?

I’d appreciate any advice on what to do! Thanks

1.) No guarantee but I’d say probably
2.) Clearing occurs after/on results day, you don’t have to decline the exeter offer to look at places
I Wish you the best 👍

Not a hope on Clearing places at either.
These are the top courses in the UK and they do not have any problems getting high achieving applicants - and they do not need to use Clearing to fill 'spaces'.

Best option is to Firm Exeter and wait for Results Day, If you get very high grades, then take a gap year and reapply. If you don't, then you still have Exeter. As above, top Engineering courses are not going to be in Clearing.

Uni's tend to be pretty candid talking about clearing - contact the unis and ask if they went to clearing last Yr. They'll probably give you some good advice.

They are actually usually very vague when talking about this year's Clearing - because they, like every one else, don't have a clue how the A level grades will go and therefore how many applicants will achieve their offers. Yes, some Unis may be honest about 'the courses that are always in Clearing here', but beyond that they will be unlikely to tell you anything useful.

Ok thanks everyone, I firmed exeter already. I might call the unis to ask if my course was in clearing last yr (2024).

Bath had no vacancies in Mechanical Engineering last year but had a few vacancies in other engineering courses, for example integrated mechanical and electrical engineering which has both accreditations. Note that clearing vacancies differ year to year so this doesn't mean much, but I wouldn't say there is definitely no hope.

Bath usually add their Clearing vacancies to their website the evening before Results Day.

Has anyone been to Exeter for engineering, I’d love to heard you experience of it??
