Journalism, Film and Television Studies (BA) course at London MET

Hi! I was looking at the Journalism, Film and Television Studies (BA) course at London MET and I really like the program on their website, however I did not hear great things about London MET... I would love to hear from someone who study there to know if what I heard it's true and how's studying there (from a more academic/practical point of view).

Also, how is it at London MET with internships opportunities and related things? I know someone who is currently studying at UAL and they say it's hard to get in the industry right now, and from what I've seen UAL is raking pretty high and has a good reputation, so I'm scared to have even more problems if I don't get myself into the "right" Uni.

+ do you guys know any other similar courses that still accept applications to start this September? I'd love to study journalism, but I'd like to have my course focused on a niche rather than pick a general journalism course. Beside film and television, I really like fashion and music

Hi there! I’m second-year Digital Media student at London Met, and this is a little bit of my experience.
As an international student (I’m from Colombia and moved here in 2018), I’ve found London Met to be incredibly welcoming and diverse. You’ll meet people from all over the world, and that makes for a really open and supportive atmosphere.
The university offers a lot of ways to get involved outside of your course I work as a social media ambassador, a student communications assistant, and I’m part of the LGBTQ+ society (I’ll be president next year!). There are many societies and student roles, so it’s easy to build connections and develop skills beyond the classroom.
In terms of support, the counselling services have been really helpful for me, especially during a difficult time related to my health. I’ve felt that the university truly cares about student wellbeing.
As for internships and work opportunities, the creative industries can indeed be competitive, but London Met offers good support through its careers team, networking events, and sometimes even through your lecturers, who often have industry connections. You need to be proactive, though the opportunities are there, but you have to go after them.
When it comes to reputation, I’d say don’t get too caught up in rankings. What really matters is whether the course content fits what you want to learn and whether you feel you can make the most of the resources. In the end, so much comes down to your own drive, portfolio, and networking.
Also, just so you know, the campus is currently being renovated so while it’s a bit under construction now, it should look fantastic once the work is finished!
If you want to hear more about student life or my experience, feel free to ask happy to help ☺️
