Journalism, Film and Television Studies (BA) course at London MET

Hi! I was looking at the Journalism, Film and Television Studies (BA) course at London MET and I really like the program on their website, however I did not hear great things about London MET... I would love to hear from someone who study there to know if what I heard it's true and how's studying there (from a more academic/practical point of view).

Also, how is it at London MET with internships opportunities and related things? I know someone who is currently studying at UAL and they say it's hard to get in the industry right now, and from what I've seen UAL is raking pretty high and has a good reputation, so I'm scared to have even more problems if I don't get myself into the "right" Uni.

+ if you know any other similar courses that still accept applications to start this September I'd love to know! I want to study journalism, but I'd like to have my course focused on a niche rather than pick a general journalism course. Beside film and television, I really like fashion and music : )

Hey! 😊
I’m going into my final year at London Met (studying Digital Media), and while I’m not on the Journalism, Film and Television course specifically, I’ve worked on a few projects that involve studio production and editing, so I can give you a bit of insight!
The uni does have a well-equipped TV studio with cameras, lighting setups, and a green screen, so you’ll definitely get hands-on experience with live production and directing. Editing-wise, we usually use Adobe software like Premiere Pro but instead of dedicated editing suites, most of the work is done either in class during practical sessions or on our own laptops.
There’s also a Careers and Employability team that helps you find internships, build your CV, and apply for placements. If you're into fashion, music, or niche journalism, it's worth reaching out to them and also making the most of networking and freelance opportunities outside the course.
London Met might not have the prestige of UAL, but it’s a diverse, supportive space where students from all backgrounds do really creative work. If you're motivated and bring your ideas to the table, you can definitely build a great portfolio and get valuable experience.
Feel free to ask anything else if you’re curious! 🤗

Hello,
I am a student rep from UAL and have just graduated from London College of Fashion where I studied fashion journalism and content creation. It sounds like this course might also be for you and I would highly recommend it. UAL offers many opportunities during and after studies that help with employability such as great industry guest speakers, practical skill training such as Adobe and placement terms/year.

UAL have some courses on offer through clearing so definitively check if fashion journalism is on that list or you can apply to be part of the cohort next year. UAL offer a range of journalism courses so if you want to focus on fashion journalism, you can choose either LCF or CSM, or if you are interested in broader journalism topics, you can also check out LCC (London College of Communication) which specialises in a range of media courses which I have linked below.
