The Student Room Group

Advices from 18+

I've noticed that a lot of people aged 18 and above use this app.

So I have a small request:
If you're 18 or older, please drop a comment sharing one piece of advice you would give to your younger self. It can be anything—something you’ve learned, a mistake you’d avoid, or a mindset that helped you grow.

Your advice could really help someone younger navigate their future a little better.

And to all the younger users reading through the comments, feel free to reply with 《thank you》 to show your appreciation!

Let’s help each other grow.
What my mama always tells me, and what her father before her always told her: Never be a borrower or a lender.
If you must borrow, make it as little as possible and pay it back as quickly as you can.

Well I don't live with my Step-dad anymore bc of trauma but besides that he has taught me that:

1.

Sometimes you gotta go through pain in order to achieve greatness.

2.

If you don't push past your limits you'll never improve

1.

Pain goes by when you don't think about it

2.

let your past make you better not bitter

3.

My mom once told me that I'm a loss cause, so in return I'm gonna join the military and prove her wrong (don't let haters affect who you are)

If it feels wrong for you, it probably is.

One of the hardest lessons (that I am still trying to learn myself) is it is better to find situations and people who make you feel more like yourself and at ease than to bend yourself into an uncomfortable shape to fit their mould of you.

The same goes for other people, try and let people be who they are rather than who you wish they were because there are people who will naturally be exactly like that and you will compliment each other.
