My Favourite Things About Living in Kingston

Having lived in Kingston for the past few years, here are a few of my favourite things about life in Kingston as a student :smile:

Amazing Workshop Facilities
As an art student at Kingston school of art, one of my favourite things about living in Kingston is the close proximity to our open access workshop facilities! Although I have yet to try everything, I spend a lot of time in the sewing and knitting workshops and try to dabble with developing my film rolls from time to time! What would you like to try to make in the workshop? I would love to try making my own ceramics one day!

Walkable and Close Amenities
Another of my favourite things about living in Kingston is how walkable it is! I barely spent much on transport each month aside from when I’m travelling out of Kingston into Central London. When I had to start commuting for my placements, I really started to appreciate how accessible everything was in Kingston by walking/ cycling. I usually lived a 30mins walk away from campus and it was always relatively easy to grab groceries or go to the gym along the way :smile:

Parks and Green Spaces
Kingston is also really pleasant in the spring and summer months(unless you have hayfever!) especially with many parks and green spaces nearby such as Hampton Court, Bushy Park, Richmond Park and Kew nearby :smile:

If you are a nature lover or like to take long walks, there are many beautiful walking and running routes along the river thames. My particular favourite walk is to go up to Petersham Nursery to see the wisteria in Spring and follow the river Thames up to Richmond :smile:

Kingston also has many charming small cafes and good charity/junk shops around where I like to pop into every now and then :colondollar:
