Case Studies in Geo IGCSE Edexcel

Hey so my GCSE's are pretty soon and I'm kind of confused how much you specifically need to know about case studies in geography. I am able to name ones that fit in to the categories but don't really know the specifics of any. Do I need to?

you could just make them up on the spot. as long as they are believable and credible facts which you are writing, you will get marks. I know somebody who got 93% in their mock just by making up case studies. however, these facts have got to be either very believable or very close to the truth. you can't talk about a Tsunami in England which killed 10,000 people for example, because the examiner will instantly know it's false. you should make up facts which a tired, bored examiner will think are true, for example, flooding in Haiti which killed 20 people sounds a lot more believable. obviously, it is better to memorise a dozen facts for each case study, but depending on your circumstances, that may not be possible.

yeah, I mean as long as you have a few place specific reference points for each case study you'll be good to go. I've got my exam this morning 😭😭

thanks, just had it. I think it went pretty well. the only major slip-up was when I said the UK had 80% sustainable energy when it is actually 40%. either way, the rest of my mostly made up facts were solid. I think I'm looking at grade 8/9 atm. just got paper 2 left to turn it into a guaranteed 9 😅

Guysss for the 8 mark fieldwork question, if we’re presented with some data to analyse what do we say, also I need some advice for 8 markers in general.

What did you write about the secondary data

my first paragraph was about the first source and the pros and cons of it.
my second paragraph was about the second source and the pros and cons of it. said it was better than the first source
my third paragraph was about how the student could also carry out a beach profile investigation for primary data collection.
(i do coasts btw)
