Motivation for revision

I have my first exam in about two weeks and so far I've done minimal revision. I also do not know half of the content I need to know for the exam. Does anyone have any tips on what gives them motivation to revise? Cheers

Hiya,

Don’t worry you’re definitely not alone! Two weeks is still enough time to make some good progress. I’d suggest breaking your revision into small, manageable chunks and focusing on the trickier topics first. Setting mini goals and giving yourself little rewards can really help with motivation. You’ve got this just take it one step at a time! 😊

Hey @Einar69 It's hard to motivate yourself and getting started can feel really overwhelming. If I were you I'd look at the week ahead and make a study plan. Work out how many days you have left and what topics you need to cover. Break each day down in to different topics, tasks and study techniques and try your best to stick to it. Make sure to plan for regular breaks away from your desk ☺️ Vary the way you study too so it doesn't become too boring - using flashcards, writing mind maps and essays, working on past papers, quizzing yourself/working with friends to test knowledge etc.

I was always most motivated by working towards a target and ticking things off my to do list - whether it be "focus on this for half an hour", or "write this essay then you're due a break".

Also love the tip from @EdgeHillStudent3 - reward yourself for the wins!! 😇

Do exercise. I find that when I do a run in the morning, I have way more energy and motivation to do work. Secondly for the content use the RAG method (aka traffic lights) where you look over the whole syllabus and then put a colour next to it on how confident you would feel on that topic, e.g Red = No confidence, Green = Good confidence (Amber = middle). This will help you understand how to target your reivision, as you should start with Red trying to turn it green.

Thanks I'll try that 👍

I'd practice lots of past papers at this stage with only 2 weeks remaining.
