this is useful they put the content of each topic into one page so u could skim them if u feel u don't have enough time to look over all of them in detail
idk if it is helpful but having the content in one page makes it feel easier to manage to me lol

I back this so much! The wording of some of the questions have been so obscure and a majority take most planning time to actually comprehend the questions. BUT the possible exam questions are in similar wording and have helped me really quickly understand what it is saying through reading the websites questions x

Trying to do as many essay plans as possible so I can focus on active recall for the next two days but I'm stuck on knowledge of God - is there anyone that argues that faith is not at least somewhat sufficient for belief in God? Could Hume be brought in?

Dawkins?

Does anyone know if both gender topics have ever come up before?

Reply 24

how is the gender in society topic likely to come up, if it does? i hardly remember anything from it as it just gets overshadowed by how massive the gender in theology topic is

for gender and society i think the questions would ask either about motherhood, family, or gender roles e.g. "is motherhood liberating or restricting?" - i think? hope this helps!

that seems about right, thanks! i hope it doesn't come up as we spent so much time on reuther/daly that the society topic just got totally glossed over 🥲

you're welcome! yes me too, i feel like gender + theology and gender + society are just one topic in my head ahaha, but i think you can definitely bring reuther and daly into the society questions too!

no literally 😭 i think either way i'll just be bringing in content from each side into the other, but counts as a synoptic link i guess!

yeah i agree 100% as they both essentially respond to the theology determined roles in society, restricting women. you can def merge them both

I think if you plan one on like "assess christian teaching on gender roles" thats general you will feel better because you can include all things in their (motherhood, family, working, etc)

could i use an atheistic argument for ‘is faith sufficient for belief in God’?

Reply 32

does anyone have a plan for faith is sufficient for belief in god

does anyone have a plan for faith is sufficient for belief in god

yes i will write it out super brief
thesis: faith is not sufficient belief in God alone, we need both reason and faith
main point 1: aquinas' argument for nml shows that we have a god given ratio to guide us towards telos ("do good and avoid evil"), furthermore his 5 ways (cosmological and teleological argument) provide reasonable evidence to belief in god- however not absolute proof. aquinas suggests that whilst reason is sufficient, we need faith combined to provide sufficient belief in god.
main point 2: calvin suggests we have a "sensus divinitatus" known to us through reason, however because of the fall there has been a "epistemic distance" whereby we cannot access our innate sense. calvin then suggests that due to the corruption of the fall, we need to be guided by faith as well, making faith combined with reason sufficient for belief in God
main point 3: barth assesses through barmen declaration that for christians to know christ he must reveal himself, as he is the only guide to understanding god. thus defending that faith is sufficient for belief in god. Bonaventure critiques this showing that we have 3 eyes, nt and rt combined, to provide evidence to believe in god.

hope this helps! its only short but i baso just said we need to combine faith and reason (revealed and natural theology) to support belief in God.

yes i would say the same as @luluLMH2006 😊 i think the question is basicallly asking for a comparison between natural and revealed theology. (revealed = faith, natural = reason).

I would include:
Natural theology - Calvin, Cicero, and evidence in bible of sensus divinitatus (criticise with Barth about how the Fall limits our ability to know God naturally)
Revealed theology - Barth (contrasted with Brunner), and then Calvin (as a mix of both natural and revealed) to finish the essay

hope this helps! @Ladeedadadad
