does anyone have an idea of how they would write the essay question "Does God's judgement take place immediately after death or at the end of time?"

i think youd contrast catholicism and calvin (that theres particular and general judgement) with millenarianists who think theres one final judgement after christ rules for 1000 years, then refute this by saying catholics believe this is really the church enacting god's rule on earth. theres litch nothing on it in my text book i swr

in my textbook it brings up

PARTICULAR JUDGEMENT:

irenaeus' final day of judgement before entering heaven (god's whole plan of the universe comes to its conclusion and time comes to an end)

before this they live in peaceful happiness
+some saints might be admitted into a fast track to heaven without having to wait
some bible passages support this

calvin supported this too - dead are conscious either in peaceful bliss or pain depending on what god has chosen for them

FINAL JUDGEMENT:
otherwise known as last judgement - whole nations judges as well as every person in a final conclusion to all of creation

STRAIGHT TO HEAVEN OR HELL:

rich man and lazarus - lazarus taken straight to heaven (BUT this is an illustrative story)

many christian prayers refer to the deceased as though they are already in heaven

luke's gospel 'truly i tell you, today you will be with me in paradise' (BUT in the original greek test there is no comma 'i tell you today you will be with me in heaven' = confusion as to whether or not it is immediate or not

idk if this is usefulll but it is all that is in my book
i would use these points and then say that there is ultimately no way of knowing and that christians have different views

+i think the most popular view is that there is particular judgement rather than immediate judgement
so if i were to lean a specific way i would argue that the biblical implications of immediate judgement aren't convincing enough

I've got three subtopics I haven't done - Is hell eternal, Jesus as a wisdom teacher or political liberator, and faith as sufficient belief in God. How likely are these to come up? 😭 Might look over the first one at least just in case.

I used parable of the sheep and the goats (end of time), rich man and Lazarus (particular) and millenarianism (end of time) although I think you could argue Hick's purgatory for particular as well.
