Hey all. I'm aiming for a Grade 9, but I have 1 thing that I hate in FM: the rules of matrices. You know the ones that are utilize "x=-y" as a matrix. Apparently, we can prove it in the exam, but I do not want to waste time on this, if I have them memorised. Do any of you know how I can memorise them efficiently? Also, any tips on how to approach matrix problems in general.

1st class maths explains matrices very well on his youtube channel. It shows you how to find out the different transformations without having to memorise them.

Hey guys, if any of you want advice on how to do well, hit me up on this forum page, I took this exam in Summer 2024 and got 159/160.
If you want tips, the best thing I'd recommend doing is watching ALL of 1st Class Maths's videos on this course and completing all of his workbooks.
After that, spam past papers. Checking you're up to scratch on regular GCSE might be a good idea as well.
Generally, the questions are pretty standard, so if you can just familiarise yourself with the style they ask them in and do loads of them, a 9 will come pretty easily.
Best of luck 🙏

Hi, I am feeling really stressed about the further maths as I only have 1 more week of lessons and we hjave still not finished to content. On the first mock I got 42/45 and on the second I got 51% which evened out to an 8. I still have the option to drop out and was wondering if I can have some advice? My teacher is willing to teach me more of the content after half term but idk, also I am not doing maths or FM a-level but I am doing physics if that makes any difference!

Dw abt it tbh. First and foremost, does the sixth form/ college u want to apply to count fm as a gcse. The sixth form I want to apply to don't count it so even if i do bad it doesn't rlly matter. I would say don't drop out cus Further maths is a really good skill and as long as u pass it shows that u are good with maths - as its more difficult. I'm not too sure but I've heard that maths helps with physics but talk to ppl who have done fm and are doing physics a level. Lastly, check out 1st class maths, he's really good but that said ur results r wayyy better than mine 😭😭😂😂!! I literally just passed in my mocks so dw abt it. Prioritise what you need and making choices based on that 👍🙂

Hello there, I'm aiming for a grade 7 and above and I mainly use 1st class maths for revision. However my teacher has given me a topic list on all topics in the curriculum and it seems that there are a decent amount missing from the first class maths website. Do you recommend I go over other revision materials or was only using first class maths and past papers enough?

Hey hope you’re well. I was just wondering whether you could please share this list of topics. My school only added this gcse as an option a couple months ago therefore learning the content has been pretty much independent study and like you I’ve only used the first class website. It would be a great help if you don’t mind please 🙏

sorry this is late but i was in the same boat as you - trying to memorise all of the matrix transformations and the trigonometric identities. i think honestly it is best to use the unit square and go on save my exams as they have a pretty good explanation. using the unit square allows you to prove the matrix transformation and reduces errors

Thanks for your help now, but I ended up making flashcards and testing myself on these matrices, and now I have them pretty secure. Thanks anyways.

I think this is it. If it doesn't work, please tell me. Here is the mark scheme too:
AQA-8365-1-Final-MS-Jun24 v1.0.pdf

It won't work as it's a link to your private computer file system.

@hhhhhh.kkkkk if you ask your teacher they might be able to give you a legitimate copy of it

As long as product rule of counting is kept at a minimum, I will be keeping the grade boundaries up.
