What do you want to study at Uni ....?

yes, your first and second year of level 3 btec are an equivalent of taking a-levels! obviously they are enough to apply to uni for an art degree, if you wanna get a degree in a different field it might be a little harder depending on specific course requirements.

BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Art and Design = equivalent to one A level.
BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma in Art and Design = equipollent to one A level.

However - and these points are very important - these BTECs belong to two different BTEC systems (RQF and QCF) and are essentially the same level qualification in the same subject. You cannot therefore count them as two A levels, The equivalency also depends on grades achieved - see BTEC and UCAS points | Pearson qualifications and select the appropriate tab.

If you want to 'go to Uni' you will need further Level 3 qualifications. If you want to study an Art/Design related subject, a 1-year 'Foundation Diploma in Art and Design' would be appropriate for entry to many Unis (this is NOT a BTEC, it is a different qualification validated by UAL) such as Foundation Diploma in Art, Design… AUB Arts University Bournemouth OR if you are aiming at another degree subject, and especially if you are an older student or have any other unconventional education background background, there are either Access to HE courses available at local colleges, or specific courses at some Universities such as CertHE Foundation Years | Study at Bristol | University of Bristol.

A BTEC Extended Diploma in anything is generally considered equivalent to three A-levels. Which I can assure you it feels like when actually doing the course especially if you are aiming for the high grades.

I managed to get into some top universities in my industry with just GCSE maths, BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Art and Design (I have also done level 1 and level 2) which I am predicted to get D*D*D*.
BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in anything is worth 3 A Levels so yes you most definitely go to uni but it does also depend on your grades:smile:

it's best to check the course requirements at all the universities you're interested in in case I'm wrong, but I got offers from all the universities I applied to with (I think) the same extended qualification. If I'm not wrong, it should be fine for applying to art degrees at uni, and if you have other relevant experience/qualifications potentially other courses as well (that's what I did with an EPQ and a foreign language test)
