I can pop them all here:
SAMPLE PAPER: the most important aspect of oedipus is question of who killed laius OR which tells us more about ancient athens and athenians, tragedy or comedy
PRACTICE PAPER: oedipus the king is nothing more than a detective story OR chorus was more important in tragedy than in comedy
2019: impossible for modern audience to fully enjoy a performance of aristophanes OR children have teachers to instruct them, young men have poets, applies more to tragedy or comedy
2020: pentheus is a far nastier and less sympathetic character than dionysus OR oedipus is a better tragedy than bacchae
2021: prophecies and omens most important factor in the success oedipus the king OR compare and contrast how dionysus is portrayed in bacchae and frogs
2022: oedipus was an arrogant tyrant who not only deserved his suffering but made it worse OR family more important in oedipus the king or bacchae
2023: first half or second half of aristophanes contributes more to the success OR gods and religion are at the heart of ancient greek theatre
2024: disguise and role reversal is main reason for success of frogs OR easier for modern audience to enjoy greek tragedy than greek comedy
I've also got lists of 20 markers/other past questions if you need that! Lmk what your predictions are too!!

2020: success depended more on visual elements than of words spoken
2021: going to the theatre was an essential part of life for the athenians in attica
2022: the chorus made no contribution to the success of a greek comedy, how far you agree
2023: imagery of sight and blindness is vital to success of oedipus

I have a feeling role of women, men, and slaves will come up, religious acts and rituals, revenge, death and the afterlife, and MAYBE nature of a hero

Yes! I was defo thinking about gender roles, slaves or revenge/death! I really hope there's not a question of religious acts and rituals...

plus they've gotten rid of the 2019 papers online from the OCR website - may be a way to try and "redo" it in a way

the 2019 papers can still be found but require a bit of hunting https://www.classicstuition.com/past-papers/past-papers-a-level-classical-civilisation/

what points did people do for the cheiron vase 10marker for greek theatre paper

Reply 47

I talked about the helmet as a prop, the costumes (tunics, grotesque masks, skin tight suit, phalluses), the multi scenes, the fact it was made in Italy, the walking stick and white hair to show age, the skene used as set, two people playing a centaur being funny, and the fact 380bc was newer comedy

Reply 48

how did people find the imperial image paper

Reply 49

for why the vase is the vase is not helpful, i put that the young male figure on the far right is dressed in tragic costume (therefore reducing the valdiity of the source as calls into question whether its a direction depiction of a play) + vase is dated from 380-370bc and aristophanes died in 386 bc therefore unlikely depiction of one of his plays. did anyone put anything else?

Loved it. It was on the stuff I predicted so very happy

I put yes for things like costume, masks (eyes to show blindness), use of crane on stage, hair in differentiating ages, shows physical comedy and props and then for no I said we don't have a specific play or scene to link it to, is from southern italy so artistic licence may have been used, may have been exaggerated and there were only 6 actors

That’s a relief - I feel the questions this year are just phrased dreadfully- or seem nice but then are actually a s*** show when u pick them apart 🙃
Yh I think the 20m was pretty horrible- it just asked a lot to answer in only 30mins

Reply 59

Im just scared that paper 3 will be horror because Greek Theatre and World of the Hero were really good for me so far!
