It covers absolutely everything in the textbook for Myth and Religion, and Homeric World.

However you still need to familiarise yourself with the prescribed literary and visual sources which you can find here:

Predictions no, sorry, I have no idea what could come up.

As for planning essays, I assume you want past papers. You can find some here:
https://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/gcse/classical-civilisation-j199-from-2017/assessment/

Although they seem to have removed 2019 past papers and mark scheme. I have them if anybody wants them but I suppose I'd have to figure out how to make them accessible to you as I don't think I can send files via DM.

First assessment for this spec was in 2019, so no there literally isn't anything for earlier. Prior to that was the old spec.

Don't forget to use PEEL structure for the longer essay questions. Get a balanced argument going and a solid conclusion based on what you argued in the body of the text.

Spellings don't matter as long as it's a valid variant, so for example Hephaestus is fine, but equally so is Hephaistos. Athena and Athene are both fine too. Etc.

Don't forget the differences between Heracles and Hercules - Hercules (Roman) fought Cacus, whereas Heracles didn't.

Scenes of the rape of Persephone (Proserpina if we're talking Roman) on a sarcophagus or tomb are multi-layered in meaning:
Persephone is queen of the underworld, so you have the links there with death itself and dying, but also the story is symbolic of Demeter / Ceres' grief at the loss of her daughter. So it represents the grief of the mourners just as much as it represents the passage to the underworld for the deceased themselves.

Don't forget your iconography. You will very likely be shown a statue or a vase or something of that sort and then asked which god / gods are depicted, so make sure you can identify who is who.

Remember your terminology for things like the types of priests, what happens in sacrifices, and so on.

I dunno what else to say really, just memorise everything as well as you can and do your best.

Good luck!

Yep, I just sat it… and I agree that it was pretty rough. I thought the 15 markers were nice though, I think I chose Q28.
I'd be very interested to know what the bigger mark questions were on (both on the women in ancient world, and the myth and religion papers) if anyone can remember.

myth and religion was something about religious buildings being more to impress visitors than for religious worship and the other one was if theseus was a better king than romulus
if you wanted to know the 8 markers it was comparing how impressive the bessae frieze and the centauromachy metopes on the parthenon were for Greece, and if the Romans viewed the lupercalia as a serious religious festival
