Hi Lucie! Congrats on going to uni! I would suggest making a list of things you need and maybe assigning a budget for each category. For instance, I know it's not the same as nursing but when I did my psychology placement I chose really painful shoes so had to go out and buy new ones! I also had to buy a 'professional' wardrobe throughout my placement as I didn't have enough to wear, so I would prep that kind of stuff in advance.

Technology usually falls in price around September, for instance if you wanted an ipad for taking lecture notes, that's the best time to do it. There are lots of 'back to school' discounts available for university students and you can register with apps like Unidays to get discounts. I use one notebook and a couple of pens although I mostly use technology for my studies. I bought my ipad and laptop a couple of months before uni so I had time to get comfortable using them.

I think the best way is just to collect as you go. Make a list and slowly check it off when you can because if you leave it too early or too late, things can slip through the cracks. For instance don't go buying specific clothes until you know what others are wearing, that sort of thing.

I hope that makes sense, but please let me know if you have any other questions. Best of luck on your course!

Hi Lucie! Congrats on your place with uni ☺️ can I ask what uni you got into? A few of us are all waiting for results and some of us have applied for same universities with mental health.

I would start sooner rather than later so you have it all organised for starting in September ☺️

August.
First degree (German & History) I got all my stuff end of August/beginning of September and moved into halls/started the degree end of the September.
Fast forward 7 years, 1st degree and other stuff later, I started my nursing degree. I got my offer in February, started in September, and started collecting everything I needed... in the August.
Both times, I had everything in more than enough time.

Doing a bit of research into certain things, ie shoes for placement, is a good idea. If starting uni in September, you're unlikely to start placement before between end of November and January (university schedule dependant); Clarks or Sketchers (as long as plain black) are your best options in terms of comfort and will last.
