Most courses in this subject area, especially at Unis asking for higher A level grades, will want specific GCSE grades in Maths and/or English Language. Check the online course pages for that Uni's requirements. They may also look at your overall GCSE profile but one low GCSE grade will not have any major impact.

No, only English language and maths are involved in the "basic" GCSE requirements for a university.
