Hey, thanks for the good vibes and best of luck to you too! That’s a solid lineup of subjects—especially with CIE sciences, I know how tricky those can get.
For Arabic and Islamic Studies, I’d recommend checking YouTube channels like "Ibn Jareer" or "Cambridge in 5 Minutes"—they’ve got helpful breakdowns. Also, doing past paper mark schemes and examiner reports really helps tie everything together.
Also, I help other students with revision tips and study guides through my Fiverr page if anyone ever needs one-on-one help: https://www.fiverr.com/amelia_ashf
Let’s all smash these exams—wishing you (and everyone here) the best of luck!

tysm! this is so helpful! I really appreciate it x

ooh I haven't seen anyone else doing Islamic studies edexcel!! I do it too ) Something that helps incredibly is going through EVERY SINGLE specification point, and trying to make flashcards for it or just coming up with ideas in your head. I did this just before my mock, and it helped me immensely because I found that sometimes the questions are just rewordings of the specification point. Another thing that would help so much is to always add in an extra hadith/verse in your 12 markers! I'm assuming you already know the structures of the 6 and 12 markers btw, but lmk if you don't! It's honestly not too bad, even if you don't quote perfectly and just say, for example, "Surah ikhlas has the message of tawhid...." it does help. Better to learn the translations of a few of the surahs though 🙂 Hadiths would be great too.
For the spec points, I do have half flashcards done for section A (thankfully my friends are helping too), so you can check them out if you want, js to get an example of what I mean w the spec points: https://quizlet.com/user/lively_leopard829/folders/islamic-studies-gcse?i=2rn5rf&x=1xqt
sorry they're not of much use for sec B and C 😭😭 trying to get them done soon tho in sha Allah, once again, allhamdullilah for my friends haha. hope this helps!

Ahh okay I see! Than youuu!! It was loads of help! Your right I'm not quite sure what the markers are, could you explain? Nw if not. (: x

Just trying to get my son (home educated, would be Year 10) through Edexcel IGCSE English spec B, and Unit 1 of Edexcel IGCSE Maths (modular) Foundation this month.
@Ari_siyax what did you use to revise English spec B last year?
I've had two kids go through English spec B already a couple of years ago but they both had live classes / tutors, whereas this one is self-studying from a written course.
He's struggling mostly with sections A and B.

Hi @PinkMobilePhone Thank you for your message. I don't know if it will be very helpful as I also had an English tutor near the end of my exams, who was just extremely interactive and on it, demanding homework's, essays etc. every week. I myself, was really bad at concentrating in classes (especially over Zoom) so her tutoring really made me step up and do work properly. I recommend Quizlet maybe, as its quite good for drawing up quick little quizzes to remember certain things. Like your son, I struggled a lot with A and B probably just because most of it revolves around a text that your reading, writing, and then playing on to make your own little blog/travel log/letter etc. Really practising PEED paragraphs and SLIME (Structure, Language, Imagery, Meaning, and Effect) throughout the whole text. That's what my tutor did, just kept giving me past papers then telling to do the same thing every time for Part A reading: 1) Identify the PALS (purpose of the text/audience aimed at/language used/ and style of writing, eg. blog, letter. 2) highlighting each and every point I find of each, using different colours to make it easier. And then writing a paragraph on each bit using PEED paragraphs. And thus to continue throughout the whole thing making as many points as possible, but within the time limit. I myself write a long intro, middle, and then conclusion when doing those, but she told me its just timewasting as to get those marks you've got to make your point with the language technique used and then delved into it a little with what effect etc...With the 'refer to both texts' literally do the same thing but finding the similarities and differences. There's probably loads of youtube vidoes showing you how. With B, I recommend watching videos on how to write a particular style and just practise. You've been given points and ideas from the texts but you need to learn how to use that. And then obviously the C you've got to either write a narrative, describe something, or a debatable question. He should pick one of those that he's probably good at and focus on becoming Proficient in it. For me I loved the narrative one as I've always loved writing stories but it could be different for someone else. Find the one thats easiest and then really learn how to write a mind-blowing piece that will really stand out to to examiner marking it. Sorry if this has been really long. These are things my tutor told me to do, especially in my free time as she only taught me once a week. There are loads of videos on youtube as well that are extremely handy and are probably far more deft and easy to understand than me 😅 I hope its been helpful anyways, and its been able to answer a bit of you question. Lmk if not 😊 xx

Np, heres a quick rundown of all the questions in the exam.

Just in case you're not already aware of this, Section A and B provide a choice of 2 questions each, and you pick only one of the two questions to answer. Section C also has 2 question, but you must answer both.

1 marker: pretty obvious, a "state" question. This only exists in section C

2 marker: again, a "state" question but this time you give two points and these only exist in Sec A and B.

3 marker: This is a mini paragraph where you make a point, and then develop your point. e.g.
"Describe how Muslims perform Salah in the mosque."
"They will wash before prayer (1), this is a sign of a Muslim making themselves pure before Allah (1). They then face Makkah and ready themselves for prayer (1)."

6 marker: Here, you are supposed to write 2 PEE paragraphs. It would be extremely beneficial to add some quotes in here (you could even use one of the quotes that have been used in previous 12 markers!) Make a point, give evidence (I'd recommend doing both a quote and an actual example, e.g. if you wanted you could do a hadith abt wudu and then give an example of an action in wudu - do both so you maximise marks, this is a very easy paper to get 100% in)
and then of course explain.

12 marker: This question always gives you a statement, a verse/hadith, and then asks you to agree or disagree with the statement.

Think of this as 6 mini paragraphs - it sounds like a lot but realistically you should be writing 2-4 sentences per point. This is the structure I've been taught:

1st point FOR the statement - evidence - explain
2nd point FOR the statement - evidence - explain
3rd point FOR the statement - evidence - explain

1st point AGAINST the statement - evidence - explain
2nd point AGAINST the statement - evidence - explain
3rd point AGAINST the statement - evidence - explain

conclusion - please please make sure that the conclusion is well-written! you must agree/disagree and then give a small explanation of why - don't introduce any new points here.

Couple of notes about the 12 marker:

always always always make a mini plan. I like drawing out a table at the top of the page with "for" and "against" and 3 bullet points on each side with my points.

you will have to use the verse/hadith in at least one of your points. You can't really analyse like you do in English, but you can be like "the verse states...which shows the importance of....because it is...."

A point you can almost always use is, "It is Allah's will" as long as you explain it and back it up (with a verse)!

Try to add in your own verses/hadiths, even just one would be great.

If you can't think of three points for/against, it's not the end of the world because you could still get 12/12, considering your points are well-developed. I would always recommend doing 3 points for and against - no matter how far-fetched your point may seem!

In total there are 4 12 markers, so you will have to work quickly!
