Hiya congratulations on your offer of midwifery as it is a very highly competitive course to get into.

I would suggest if you are going to buy any books that you perhaps consider - Ross and Wilson, Anatomy and Psychology of the human body..... As this will give you everything you need to know about the body.

Mayes' Midwifery (Paperback)
Sue Macdonald(editor),Gail Johnson(editor)

Anatomy and Physiology for Midwives ( can't remember who wrote this )

You don't really have to get the most up-to-date versions because you can get the last version of these as the only thing that is different in update books are technology and medication as they are always changing.

When you start your university course they will give you a PDF list of what books you will actually need for your coursework and then you can borrow them from the university library or even try the local council libraries.

Just make sure you have plenty of pens, A4 notebooks for note taking in lectures at university....
Pocket notebooks for your nursing uniform so that you can take down notes on what you have been doing throughout your shift every day ( when you get the time to do it) and then transfer the information into your coursework folder or laptop, as everything you write down will eventually form part of your essays, assignments and exams over the three years you are a student.

Fob watch - silicone type is fine as easy to keep clean

Good pair of comfortable shoes - sketchers or Clarks are good for nursing.
If you can find out what your uniform policy is for your local health trust you will be working under as most allows students nursing staff to wear either shoes or trainers and then you can decide what to wear.
