KCL's politics is super competitive. Getting a rejection is nothing to be ashamed of.

Look forward to her exam and get the Bests sgd could. There are still lots of opportunities ahead.

Good Luck to her.

Which other offers do you have for this year?

What are your A-Levels and predicted grades?

Thank you for your messages. DD feeling better today. Does have an offer from Warwick, Birmingham and SOAS. Waiting on LSE. Wondering despite mitigating circumstances, didn't quite get through. Fingers crossed for the last one.

Oh! The unis are all very good for politics.

Take a look at the modules at SOAS, rhey are unique and extraordinary, with particular emphasis Asian and African issues.

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to hear about your daughter’s rejection from KCL I know how heartbreaking it can be, especially when it’s her first choice. That said, it’s great that she has some fantastic offers on the table, including Warwick, Birmingham, and SOAS and fingers crossed for LSE!

As a final-year SOAS student, I just wanted to say that SOAS really does offer some unique strengths, especially for someone interested in Political Economy. We have a strong international focus and offer some fascinating modules in politics and economics, many of which explore regions and perspectives you won’t find as much of elsewhere. In fact, we were ranked 5th in the UK for Politics in the 2023 QS Rankings.

If your daughter is curious about the SOAS experience or wants to get a better feel for the course, I highly recommend checking out Unibuddy to chat with current students not just at SOAS, but also at her other offer universities. Everyone’s really open and happy to share their honest experiences.

Also, SOAS has an upcoming applicant day on 26th April, which could be a great opportunity to get a feel for the campus, meet lecturers and students, and explore the course in more depth. You can find more info here:

Wishing your daughter all the best with the rest of her offers and decision-making and feel free to reach out if you (or she) has any questions!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your personal perspective on SOAS. The information you have given is valuable indeed and I will share it in turn with my daughter. We are off to Warwick on Saturday but would also love to visit SOAS, would you know if there are any other days upcoming. Thank you again for your response.

Hey there, we do have an Undergraduate Open Day on 14 June 2025. But if you would like something sooner, we run weekly campus tours where you won't necessarily meet the academic staff but it is a chance to look around campus and get to know more about SOAS - https://www.soas.ac.uk/visit-soas/campus-tours.

I hope this helps.

Hi we have decided to come along to SOAS this weekend as we have been to Warwick before. So thank you.

We did visit SOAS on Saturday and must say we enjoyed it very much. My DD especially liked the Global Development talk and this gave her the motivation to consider SOAS as a serious contender for her top 2 choices. However we are worried that we are going to miss out on the accommodation choices as she is still waiting for 1 more decision to come through. Thank you.

May I ask what courses she applied to at the other unis, and what her stats were?
