Glasgow Law Withdrawal to Apply for York Accom?

I received a conditional offer from Glasgow back in October( gap year student, with achieved grades), but after it’s remained conditional to a ‘satisfactory LNAT score’, which they haven’t decided after months, I suspect they’re going to leave my application until the May UCAS deadline before making the offer unconditional/ retracting it.

I also hold an offer from York, and have a specific college there I’d like to apply to for accom, and their accom apps opened yesterday.

I feel skeptical about withdrawing from Glasgow when I have a conditional offer from them, but they won’t reply to any emails I send, and if I wait until deadline, I’ll lose the York accommodation, as I have to firm before applying for it-

Any advise on whether to wait or withdraw from Glasgow/ York accom advice or anyone who knows what Glasgow may do would be appreciated.

York and Glasgow are good unis for Law. York has an unique problem based learning approach.

You are inclined towards Glasgow? Is there any thing special attracting you? LNAT unis get the LNt results before the January deadline so LNAT is normally not a condition of offer. Your situation is crystal clear ti Glasgow months ago, so obviously Glasgow is taking the advantage and it might delay decision to the worst until results day. To be blunt you might be Glasgow's spare.

If I were you, I would probably let go Glasgow and opt for York, for York's certainty vs Glasgow's uncertainty. York is not inferior to Glasgow. Glasgow's 4-year curriculum might have extra financial burdens.

Good Luck.

Hi. Thank you for your response.

It seems to be a poor system only Glasgow do with the LNAT, where they give out offers to people who have already sat everything, before they’ve even decided what their cut off score will be. This does seem likely that they’re waiting until Results Day, but how could they give offers to someone else if I’m already taking up one? And do you think there would be potential for an auto rejection on results day?

I think I will be going with York though, as their communications have painted a much better impression than Glasgow. Many thanks!

Glasgow's offer is conditional? Contigent upon "satisfactory LNAT results"? Then your place is not yet confirmed and they could reject you because you failed in meeting the condition, which they already known at the time of giving the offer. That's why I said "you might be Glasgow's spare".

There is much uncertainties involved. Following is purely my speculation, not verified. If on results day your "overall score" (put it simple, LNAT + achieved grades) is higher than their threshold (that is yet to be determined after calculating the "overall scores" of all their offer holders), your conditional offer would become unconditional, you are admitted. Otherwise, they would say your LNAT was unsatisfactory and you got rejected. Yes, I mean they are moving the goal posts.

Therefore I will go to York if I were you. Of course there is no harm to wait until York's deadline for accommodation application.

Contact York first, as after you rank your top 7 I’m sure I read they hold all accommodation allocations until August results day now.

Thank you for your response- I checked this the other day and you’re correct-

However, I’m going to accept York tomorrow anyway, as I know it’s the right choice, and I’m taking Glasgows poor system as a warning for the same inefficiencies from them if I went there.
