Medicine entry requirements

So I've been looking at requirements for medicine and one of the things that was flagged was GCSE scores. I'm currently retaking maths because I didn't get a 6

I got 77766655 so if let's say I didn't get the grade for one them ( physics I got a 5)

Would I not be qualified to do medicine or do I have to do a gateway year ( please I need help)?

There may be specific GCSEs that any degree course requires, check the course page carefully, Most top Unis will also look at your overall GCSE profile, but that will be 'worth' far less than the weighting given to your A level grades, UKCAT and Personal Statement.

Gateway years are for those meeting very specific widening-participation criteria - and who have lower A level grade expectations. They are not for otherwise well qualified applicants with one wobbly GCSE grade.

It depends mostly on the university, i know plymouth dont really care as long as you pass so that one would be a good pick for you and plym has a low ucat score however they care more about your alevel grades. You need to make a list of potential options really but i think if you’re resitting to get a 6, then you’ll be okay especially if you want to do medicine. Most med uni have mediocre entry requirements except the exceptional ones like cambridge and kings etc, but because of your gcses your options are shortened.
If you are eligible for gateway years then that would be even better because those gcses would be suitable for a gateway year rather than the standard entry.

(This is exactly the sort of question to ask at an Open Day).
