how did you answer 6/9/12 (9+3) markers was there a set structure and what key words did you use in order to get top marks

For 6 markers I would have 3 points and each point needs an explanation to get the 6 marks but I used to have 4 points to guarantee the max marks in case on of the points was only worth one mark as sometimes the mark schemes are picky

9 and 12 markers follow the same structure and the extra marks are just for SPaG so just make sure everything is spelled correctly and you use correct punctuation (but you should be doing that in all your answers tbh). I always did an inroduction where I outlined the topic in the question and an overview of th points I would be making. Then I would split my answer into two halves (advantages vs disadvantages, long term vs short term, socio-economic vs environmental etc. or whatever suits your question best) then have two main paragraphs following a PEEL structure and its so important you keep linking it back to the question so you dont go off an a random tangent as they wont award marks for parts that are irrelevant. I used to do two main paragraphs but if you write faster you can do three paragraphs (2 for the side you are for and 1 for the side you are against). Then you need a conclusion which is really important to show that you have assessed/evaluated the statement as that means considering multiple factors and reaching an informed judgement. You shouldnt be including any more new points in your conclusion and it should just be tying it all up and reaching a conclusion eg whilst x is important for y, z has more significant impacts or smth like that depending on the question.

In terms of key words, make sure you really understand the command words (you can find these on the AQA website) and in your conclusions consider the significance or the extent to which a factor has affected something using mostly, partially, most important, x outweighs the effects of y etc. to really show the examiner you are able to form conclusions based on the evidence.

Also if there is a source make sure you use it multiple times (using the source and own knowledge is different to using the source) throughout your answer and manipulate any data even for shorter answer questions like calculating a mean or something to prove your point

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions xx

Total output: Up to 390 MW

Enough to power around 150,000 homes

Local councils: Mixed some demand more environmental safeguards

Engineers: Confident in design but warn of high initial cost (~£2 billion)

What to Do With This Data

Learn rough values (e.g., "up to 390 MW", not every decimal).

Use them in 9-mark answers to back up your points.

Memorise comparisons (e.g., homes powered vs. area flooded).

Prepare quotes or stats for each major stakeholder view.

But we get a new insert in the exam right? So we technically don’t need to memorise specific values?

Well they add up your scores across all three papers for the grade boundaries. In june 2024, it was 202/252, or 80%. Depends how you did in the other papers, really.

does anyone know what the 9 marker was on the fieldwork section last year?

In the fieldwork 9+3 question, will you always get a choice if you want to base it on the physical or human fieldwork?

Has anyone else been given a brief by their Teachers about the 9 Marker format and how it differs from the previous two papers. I was told that we had to write a: for, for, against and then an against the against. Basically three reason as to why with one solving the issues in the against paragraph. This seemed like quite alot, especially after we were shown the exemplar. How long do we have to spend on these nine markers?
