Lancaster Biomedicine Locations

Title mainly. Looking at accommodation for Lancaster, and am thinking that being relatively close to my lesson areas would be a good idea. The main issue is that I'm unable to nail down which areas I would be going to regularly for my studies, as any pieces of information I find amount to 'On Lancaster campus'. I attended the offer holder day but don't believe I was told about any specific areas I'd be learning in, so could any current students give me a hand?

Hi, good student accommodation near Lancaster University is booking fast, you'd better look for your housing three to six months before the move-in date.

Hi @Penc1l

I'm a biochemistry student at Lancaster - so I can definitely help you with this! Your lectures and workshops will take place all over campus - teaching spaces are organised by class size and availability as opposed to all being based in one department hub. Your lab-based practicals will be in the Biomedical and Life Sciences building, which is very central on campus, and workshops, tutorials, and computer-based practicals can again be pretty much anywhere! Luckily, all of the accommodation on campus will mean you won't have to walk far at all. I think if you were to literally walk from the furthest end point to the opposite side of campus it would only take you 15-20 minutes!

Lancaster is a collegiate university, so your accommodation is assigned based off of the college you apply to. I recommend choosing a college based on what room type you want, and the location on campus you want to live in. All colleges offer ensuite accommodation, however if you want shared bathroom, studio, or townhouse you'd need to look at specific colleges. In terms of the location on campus - colleges like Bowland are right in the middle of campus whereas Cartmel and Lonsdale are on the south-west campus where there are no teaching buildings - just accommodation.

I hope I could help a little!

Hi, Lancaster is a collegiate university, meaning your accommodation is assigned based on the college you apply to. In your first year, you’ll typically live in on-campus housing. After the first year, most students opt for off-campus accommodation around Lancaster University, such as en-suite rooms, studios, or shared houses.
