dyson instutute vs normal university

Hi, I have received an offer for the Dyson Institute starting next year and have a few offers for university starting in 2 years as I have deferred my entry, which I can't do with Dyson. My top choices for uni are Durham for General Engineering and my insurance is probably going to be Bristol for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

I'm thinking of turning Dyson down as it won't let me do some of the things that I want to do on my gap year, such as working on a summer season and going travelling for an extended period of time. I'm also worried that Dyson will be potentially socially limiting with such a small group and that I'll miss out on some of the more traditional uni things such as going out and societies.

My real worry is that by turning down Dyson I might be missing out on too much from a career or academic point of view. And to be fair, I do think I'll enjoy working as part of a wider team and just the overall set-up.

Any opinions?

I would personally say that the if you don’t care as much about the student loan and care about the ‘uni experience’ like most of us go for Durham but going to the Dyson Institute would be really good for your future if you get me? Also i’m thinking of applying this year and was wondering what where your stats?

ironicly im looking back at this cus im thinking about re applying....

For me when I was anserwing questions i used my gcse englishg skills and tried to do point evedence explain. like one of the questions was like why do you want to work at dyson and I said that i really liked how they put the consumer first as a lot of there products were reparable and had replacable parts and then compared to the general consumer electronic landscape.

but i am quite lucky with this cus i have done loads of engiering projects and have worked a few jobs (which made the irl hr intervew easier) the irl interviews are different each year i think but i havnt looked into this year much.

lmk if you have any more questions (idk when il respond currently living and working in japan so v busy)

tbh the real reason i rejected the dyson institute and am probbably not going to re apply is cus it seems so boring Socialy, such a small group and not many opportunities to go out/have a huge social life.
