History related Supercurriculars Last Minute!

Hey,

I am due to a apply to a foundation course for History that is somewhat competitive. One area with which I am stuck and in need of improvement is finding a internship or volunteering experience which I can put on my application. The deadline to apply is the end of this month (April 2025). I have already reached out to a number of archives but have heard nought back so far. Any advice on this would be a lifesaver.

hi! not volunteering/internship but you could look online and see if theres any essay competitions - entering these even if you dont hear back before the application shows your commitment to the subject and you can write about what you learnt, simiarly doing your own project on an area of history you like, maybe local histroy, especially if you interview people or look in library archives would be a great supercurricular. in terms of voluntering, maybe your local museum, National trust, or library archive? if youre in school or college you could start a society, or run lectures for younger years. hope these ideas help! good luck

Fromthepage.com has transcription projects in history that you can contribute to, this is volunteering and online 🙂 Springpod also has virtual work experience programs if youre interested in that

Thank you this is brilliant, I have started a project. With regards to putting it across in my CV (it's a foundation course I am applying to) any advice for how to mention it?

I'm not really the person to ask, never written a cv or anything as I'm in year 12
