Undergraduate Psychology: Strath or Cali

Hi

I have received all my UCAS offers back and have received very achievable conditional offers from my two top choices to study Psychology at Strathclyde and Glasgow Cali.

Previously, Strathclyde was where I most leaned towards, however after researching the steps to becoming a chartered psychologist, most post grad courses I must complete seem to be taught with Cali.

I am now swayed in my decision. I understand that courses such as masters and doctorates are extremely competitive for Psychology and require a lot of experience and understanding of the field, therefore, due to these courses being held at Cali I am curious if anyone knows whether or not an applicant to these courses would be favoured having also gained the undergrad degree from Cali too.

For any readers who are or have studied Psychology at either of these universities I would really appreciate any insight or experiences you have that may help me in making my decision or for once I get their.

Thanks for any replies

Hey @Sam2727 😀 Congrats on receiving your offers!

We're glad you're considering studying with us - but I know it's a big decision to make! Ultimately if your goal is to undertake a masters at GCU then I'd check with them regarding the admissions process for their postgraduate courses. I don't imagine there would necessarily be a *massive* preference for their own UG students who are carrying on to PG - but you might find there are some admissions exceptions (eg an easier application process), or alumni discounts for your fees which can be a big plus.

If you study Psychology to single honours with us then this course meets the requirements of BPS accreditation. If this is ultimately the route you'd like to go down and you were studying with us - I'd say this would set you up nicely for PG study (either with us or elsewhere!).

We have a really popular Psychology course which has lots of interesting modules within, and the course offers the option for a placement which you could take internationally if you wanted. Students have lots of opportunities which set them up for careers as psychologists and more 🧠

Have you been able to visit both unis again at our offer holder days? These give you the chance to ask as many more questions as you need to, and can help you visualise yourself as a student at each campus.

Good luck whichever you choose - both are great options 🤗
