Pre-settled to settled

Hi,

I will be getting settled status soon, which means I will become eligible for full support (only getting tuition fee loan atm). However, I dont really need the maintenance loan as I live at home, so do I need to do anything or just reapply as normal using the EU25N form? In other words, is changing to full support mandatory if I get settled status?

If I change my mind though, what do I need to do to change to full support? I have read some posts and apparently I would need to send a PN1 form, which seems like a big hassle. Why is it the PN1 and not the PR1 form if we are returning students? I have also read that you can send a letter to SFE stating that you now have settled status and want to be assessed as such? Would that be enough? What about applying online from scratch stating I have settled status?

Finally, I have a disability, so in theory once I get settled status I would be eligible for DSA. Would I be able to claim DSA but staying on tuition fee support only? Can I send a DSA slim form only (rather than a full DSA form) once I get settled status as I am a returning student?

I know these are a lot of questions. Thank you for your time.

Hi there. You can remain on the EU application (Tuition Fee only) after receiving your status change, this is not mandatory to change, if not required. However you would not be able to apply for DSA as this is not available to EU students.
If you wanted to apply for DSA, you would need to change from EU to SFE (home student application) and select to have just the tuition fees on the application and with this you can be assessed for DSA support. You would be classed as a new student (PN1), this is because you would be changing the application type (from EU to SFE) for further DSA queries it would be best to contact the DSA team directly on 0300 100 0607 (DSA option) or Email: [email protected]
(Email currently 8 working days). They are currently open from 8am-7pm. Thanks, Stephen.
