year 12 mocks - help

I feel like I'm dying; I can't take them. I have had a lot going on lately. My mum has been diagnosed with cancer, and I had a family member die all during this week. It's a week until mocks, and I don't feel I can take them. What do I do?

Please speak to your school /college about this and explain what you are going through, hope things stay well

Hi @lola929988 ,

I'm so sorry to hear this is happening to you.

I highly recommend talking with your sixth form and asking for mitigating circumstances. They may offer alternative methods for predicting your grades or allow for your mocks to be delayed. It's very important your communicate this with them due to the difficulty for you to sit exams at this time.

Additionally, they may offer some other ways they can assist you through this over than changing how you will do your mocks.

I wish you good luck, please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (University of Central Lancashire)

I'm scared ill get predicted UUU automatically though as they are quite strict. I still want to take one of my exams as i find that subject easy but then i fear they'll just think missing the others was me coming up with excuses and being a lazy failure

hi so so sorry to here about your mum , I know this thread is from a couple of months ago but I know from experience that you and your family are in the early stages of grief and cancer treatment .

15 months ago my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer so I'm sure that you still feel like the world is ending 2 months after finding out , this feeling will lesson over time but very slowly . you should speak to your collage and explain the situation , if possible defer till next year , university's will understand taking more time to finish a levels under these circumstances .

as I'm guessing your off for summer now, try and find something to completely take you out of the situation ( even if its just for an hour or so ) I started playing video games .stuff will get better ( or at least different) I'm sure you feel like your mind is going to explode and that life will never be ( or feel ) the same again , and saying that stuff will go back to how it was isn't helpful , I'm very sorry that this has happened to you .
