Bath uni - eat and drink credit accommodation

Could any one offer advice on choosing accommodation at Bath Uni?
Son is hoping to study politics.
Shared bathroom or ensuite - thoughts and advice?
Which accommodation would you recommended?
Is the eat and drink credit worthwhile?
Many thanks

So if you choose eat and drink credit do you not get a kitchen? Can anyone confirm this? I thought it just took the pressure off having to cook so often!

Got confused with another university! Sorry! At Bath you get both the kitchen and eat and drink credit but of course double check accommodation website

I was in Eastwood terrace and I loved it. Good amount of people. Cosy rooms and basic (white walls, wooden floors unlike quads like green) so easy to make feel homey. I wouldn’t get too hung up on having an en-suite, they’re very oversubscribed and in my opinion only putting en-suite options only ups your chances of getting somewhere you didn’t want. I had no issues with shared bathrooms, never had to wait plus you have the added benefit of them being cleaned by a cleaner. I didn’t have food and drink credit but some of my friends who did have it carried to over to the next years and used it for lunches.

Hiya!

Final year pharmacy student here. Obviously having an ensuite is a nice bonus, but I personally don’t think it’s worth the price difference compared to accommodation with shared bathrooms. The communal areas, including the toilets, all get cleaned once a week so they (shouldn’t) be in too bad a state.

Different accommodation options suit different people. For a more social experience, westwood, eastwood, Norwood, and the quads are good options as there’s more students per flat. However, Westwood and Eastwood are both quite old and have shared bathrooms so Marlborough / solsbury or woodland court could provide higher quality options. The quads is always a popular choice because it’s good socially and is modern and has ensuites, although the rooms are tiny.

Regardless of which accommodation students end up in, it’s the people they live with that have more of an impact on their experience, and that is fully determined by luck.

I personally think that eat and drink credit isn’t a huge factor in deciding where to live. The accommodation options that offer it still have kitchens, I think it’s just where there’s more people per flat so the kitchen can get a bit overcrowded, but there are sufficient facilities for everyone. It gives students 10% off in the food outlets but is probably more expensive than cooking for every meal anyway. Those without food credit can still choose to eat in the food outlets if they like. There's more info about it here: eat and drink credit

I hope that was helpful
