This is the paper for:
Option 30: Russia and the Soviet Union, 1917–41
Option 31: Weimar and Nazi Germany, 1918–39
Option 32: Mao’s China, 1945–76
Option 33: The USA, 1954–75: conflict at home and abroad.

Post below with which of these you are studying.

(I currently teach the Germany option but teach the USA content at A Level.)

Other discussions for this course:
Paper 1 - Thematic study and historic environment - Friday, May 16, 2025
Paper 2 - Period study and British depth study - Thursday, June 5, 2025
Also happy to answer any questions as a current Year 12. I did The USA, 1954–75: conflict at home and abroad (unlike @04MR17). I got an 8 at GCSE (just).

What did you get for Weimar-Nazi?

Reply 9

What came up today on Option 31: Weimar and Nazi Germany

Question 1: inferences about a source discussing hyperinflation and its impacts on Germany

Question 2a) Explain why the Nazi party gained support between 1929 and 1932. You may use: Hitler’s speeches, Impacts of the Wall Street Crash and Great Depression

Question 2b) Explain why there was opposition to the Nazi party from young people. You may use: Edelweiss pirates, (not sure about the other one)

Question 3 - All about sources and interpretations relating to changes in living standards under Nazi Germany, the usual question format.

What did everyone think?

Did anyone else find the interpretations rubbish (Nazi Germany)

Thought 2 was fine, but found 1 quite repetitive about the Strength through Joy scheme

I had to manipulate the Interpretation that kept on talking about kdf. I predicted standards of living for that whole section so I had lots of into but the sources and interpretations were low-key awful. It wasn’t even too bad though tbh.
