When it comes to identifying what features to talk about, it can be useful to look at the mark schemes from past years since they say things like level 5 answers discuss______, level 4 answers discuss _____ and that way you can make a mental checklist of features to look for in the extract. But make sure you focus on identifying things which repeat multiple times throughout the extract rather than just one isolated thing.

For AO1, I try to make sure each paragraph is dedicated to a different language category (e.g. para 1 on lexis, para 2 on sentence types/functions, etc...). I usually start the paragraphs like "Text A presents [___] as [___] through its use of [___]".

For AO3, make sure to note how well it follows any genre conventions (e.g. does the writer use simple sentences more often than complex/compound ones because digital readers might have lower attention spans?). I also try to relate each point to the primary/secondary purpose of the article (and by extension the impact the language choice will have on the text's implied audience).

hopefully this is helpful (..β—œα΄—β—..)
