Not sure what you mean by tara and step (cambridge) is in the summer of y13, so the same time as your a levels. Do you mean mat (oxford) and are you applying for maths or ... for which unis?

im in y12 so my application for oxbridge will go out in mid oct, meaning i need to have sat the MAT (if i apply for oxford) or the STEP/TMUA (if i apply for cambridge) before then. sittings are oct and jan so i have to sit the oct one. im applying for maths with something (either stats or cs) so need the exams. im looking at COWI and possibly LSE

For oxford maths, mat is in oct. Step is in june (cambridge maths), though tmua (cambridge cs) would be in oct. I believe imperial and warwick maths (tmua) could be either sitting as well, but you really should have a look at the relevant admission pages to check. So really the only one (maths) you need to take in oct is mat/oxford.

There is the livestream for mat, step foundation modules for step and tmua has some overlap with mat for paper 1 and paper 2 (logic/proof) has some associated notes.

So Id guess the first thing to do is be clear about which unis youre probably applying to (ox or cam) and then go through the admission info and make sure about which tests and timing, then look at the available resources and think about supercurriculars/interviews for oxbridge applications.

For Cambridge maths you would be required to do STEP in June along with your A-levels in year 13. You can't apply for Oxford and Cambridge so you need to choose between them and just do MAT or STEP as appropriate. Look at all the past papers. MAT is much easier than STEP as it only covers maths A-level not further maths. For Oxford your MAT score will be a major factor in if you get interviewed and if you get an offer you will probably get in. For Cambridge you get interviewed first and they give twice as many offers as they take so they arrange STEP grades to ensure half they people they made offers to don't get in.

As you can tell I prefer Oxford's admissions model to Cambridge's.

You need to talk to a Maths teacher as you are very confused about what is needed and when it's sat.
