Hi there, I dont know if I have posted this into the right place.
Basically, I was already resitting lower sixth, and should really be preparing to sit my resit exams about now, but I dropped out. I will not bore with details but I was unhappy, not gonna do well and was wasting my time. (my a levels were Politics, English Lit and Sociology) I have always been interested in Law, and my plan was always to study Law or English Lit at uni. But recently, I became really bored with the idea. This was always my plan even from GSCE, and suddenly I find myself bored with it (I think this also contributed to me dropping out)
By some miracle in my brain, I seem to be interested in medicine. I was as a kid very briefly but never really thought of it. Now its all I can think about, I am reading books, watching videos, every spare second I have.
My plan was alwasy to go back to tech to finish my A-Levels in 1 year in Sept, but obviously if I want to do medicine, I would have to go back and do GCSE Double Award Science (I only have single award)
I have been looking into access courses recently, and there doesnt really seem to be any medical ones in NI, and for most of those, you have to be out of education for 3 years. I stumbles across Distance Learning Center online, and they offere an Access to HE Medicine course, that is accepted by uni's I have been interested in (Bristol), and there is no requirements for the course.
I will obviously have to check with the uni's I plan to apply to if they will accept me doing such a course with my circumstances, but I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience getting into uni this way, and any advice or opinions would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Ryan
