Can I cancel student finance if I am unsure about uni?

I am considering taking a gap year but I’m still not 100% sure that I don’t want to go to uni this year. Can I pay student finance and then back out of it come results day if I choose to take the gap year?

Yes, you can simply cancel the application if you decide not to attend uni this year. See here for how to do so.
Hi @tilly1111

Student finance won’t release any funds until they’ve received confirmation from the university that you're officially enrolled (the loan comes in September). My advice would be to keep your application open for now, and then withdraw it when you decline your university offer if you decide to take a gap year. If you withdraw your application now, it could create more work for you if you change your mind and decide to go to university straight away.

Hope that helps 🙂
