Will student finance cover a 5th year?

I have started a new 4-year course (foundation year + 3 years) but I had already studied for 1 year in my previous course. For my previous course, I had received student finance for my 1st year, and my student finance application for the 2nd year was cancelled as I decided to not continue the course. Given this situation, will student finance cover the full tuition cost for my current 4-year course? Or will I have to pay for my final year (if yes, any advice in doing so?).

Hi Sanyah,

Every student is entitled to funding for the length of their course plus one additional year, minus any previous study. This means if your new course is 4 years and you have only done 1 year previously the calculation would be 4+1=5-1=4 years left so you should be fine based on what you have advised. If you apply now for 25/26 then we can check and confirm for definite.

Thanks,
Claire
And just noting that in cases where there is any shortfall in funding, the student has to self fund the first year of the new course, not the final one.
