Durham or Lancaster?

I am planning to study theoretical physics this year. I've been offered A*AA from Durham and ABC from Lancaster.
The question is which is a better university overall. I've heard a lot about Durham having a very posh community full of tories. As someone from a working/middle class background I don't know if I'd be able to deal with that.
I've visited Lancaster and the students all seemed pretty cool but I also know Durham has a much better reputation. Which would you guys say is better for me?

Don't take rankings too seriously because ranking criteria are not always objective.

You probably heard something on Durham, classism? Were the comments fact-based or hearsay? Uni life is completely new to everyone, naturally people from similar background get together during the early months. Did the circles yield classism perception?

Durham's collegiate system helps breaking the circles and good for making friends, provided you reach out and be receptive.

You could spend some time looking into the course modules of the unis to see which fascinates you more.

Choosing the uni is a lifetime decision, trust your own preference not league tables.
