Am I cooked for my y12 mocks?

I'm in year 12 and i haven't revised at all since the beginning of the year except the day before each test. My last mocks were in January and i got BCE (psych, bio, chem). My next mocks are in exactly 2 months. Is it too late to lock in to get at least B's? Especially since these mocks are going to be all the AS level content

Why not try and see? Just try your best to improve!
I do biology (also year 12) and would be happy to answer questions on revision cos ive been pretty consistent so far this year and got all As and A*s

It may not sound that exciting, but you could just get off social media and do some work maybe?

My question was asking if it’s possible to get the grades, so obviously I'm going to do work. What’s the harm in asking a question???

as someone in yr13 I'd say yeah but don't make it a habit because it won't work next time

Good Morning!

With dedication, time and hard working - it is most definitely possible to get BBB. Start your revision today - doesn't matter how small - and build upon it each day. Little and often is better than trying to cram in a small amount of time. I did biology and chemistry at A-Level (in 2020). Start to memorize processes and for organic chemistry, a mind map linking all the different compounds together is useful for determining how to get from X compound to Y compound (simply by following the lines on the mind map).

Remember, these are just mocks. Now is the time to make mistakes. Also, do not repeat this for your real A-level exam - because you only get one shot. Start revision for your A-Level exams early, you do not want to be in a position like this for your actual exam, it is stressful and you won't be in the best mindset to retain information properly.

Hope this helps!

I'm in Year 12 too, and don't stress too much, we're all in the same boat.

My best advice is to lock in ASAP, but do it in a healthy way. Take breaks when studying by using a Pomodoro Timer (even when you feel desperate to get more studying done), in order to avoid feeling burnt out. Make a rough timetable for studying, making sure you know how much time you have roughly (per each day of the week) on average to study; you need to be able to flexible with this timetable as you may receive homework for a subject that needs to be done sooner than when your study session is scheduled in your makeshift timetable.

But, most importantly, make time for you! Make sure you're still getting to do the things you love, socialise with friends and family and make sure you still get jobs done round the house (so your family has less of a reason to shout at you!).

Good luck with all your mocks and formals!!!

Hi @Maryam.08,

Two months is actually a solid amount of time to turn things around if you use it well.

Mocks covering all the AS content can feel overwhelming, but the good thing is that AS isn’t that massive in terms of volume β€” especially if you stay consistent from now on. You got BCE with last-minute cramming, so imagine what you could do with structured revision and actual understanding under your belt.

Start with making a plan that splits your time between the three subjects. Even just 2–3 focused hours a day can add up massively if you stick to it. Aim to cover one topic at a time and test yourself regularly (past paper questions are your best friend). For sciences like biology and chemistry, active recall is key. Flashcards, blurting, diagrams, and loads of exam practice. For psychology, make sure you’re learning AO1/AO2/AO3 properly and can write solid essays under timed conditions.

You don’t need to be perfect right now, you just need to improve steadily and consistently. There is so much you can do in eight weeks. If you commit now, you can absolutely hit at least Bs, if not higher. Don’t count yourself out just because you got off to a slow start.

Rooting for you!
