Hi Anon! Congrats on your offer! Our contextual offers for the MPharm can be for BC at advanced higher (usually for Bio and Chem, in any order). What did you get for your Highers? It might be that they're looking for you to strengthen some of your STEM subjects through your AH study this year if they've specifically asked for the B in Chemistry 🙂

If you have any specific questions about your offer though I'd recommend contacting the MPharm admissions team at [email protected].

Hope this helps!

It really depends on what you got for your highers in s5 and also if your contextual. I have a friend who needs to achieve a B in advance higher chemistry. She got a A in maths, English, and Biology in S5 and B's in chemistry and Art. She's not contextual

i got AAABB in s5 my b’s were in bio and chem and i was a few marks off an A but i got a contextual offer i didnt take maths last year so my offer is BB maths and adv chem and C in biology however i’m wondering if they will accept a C in chem since i dont think i can achieve a B even tho that was my predicted i was just wondering if any mpharm students were maybe accepted with C in chem and maybe a B in biology instead idk

You never know, If your predicted a B at chemistry it means you have potential to achieve it. The reason you are getting asked for a higher grade in chemistry over biology is because Phamacy is majority chemistry based, well that's what I've gathered from watching multiple videos online. I'm currently in S4 and considering both Phamacy and Optometry. My cousins wife didn't get into pharmacy first time around, she got into pharmacology at strathclyde and once she graduated she was offered a place into Phamacy. She said as she already completed pharmacology she only has to do 2/3 years of MPharm

Hopefully someone from strathclyde uni will get back to you regarding the above. Fingers crossed they say its fine as you have a passion for pharmacy and potential considering your grades are good overall. If it doesn't work out you could always re apply next. Many people take a gap year. My brothers gf didnt get into optometry so she has decided to do a year in college (I think a hnc) and get some more work experience then re apply next year as that's what she really wants to do and not orthoptics which is what she got into

Quick question, in your personal statement did you specifically mention how you wanted to persue pharmacy or did you mention optometry too?

my application was for medicine and that was the only offer i didnt get😭😂for pharmacy and optometry it doesnt really matter about ur personal statement being for one or the other but what i would say is make it focused on one rather than both as it can seem a bit messy and indecisive i got offers from pharmacy pharmacology chemical engineering and optometry with a medicine personal statement so i dont think it really matters but i will say just focus on one however if u get work experience in an optometry and a pharmacy u can find a way to incorporate both in ur personal statement in relation to healthcare
