How do I not spend a lot of money?
Hi there,

University can be a really expensive time so I totally get needing to economise and save some money, I think most students struggle with bills and day to day spending.
Here are some tips I use:

make a meal plan for each week with lots of easy cheap staples: beans, lentils, tins of veg ect.

write your shopping list before you go, so you know exactly what you need for the week and won't need multiple shops and loads of unused food

if possible go with a bills included accomodation; it looks a little more upfront but in my experience you save a lot of money over the winter period and you can afford to keep warm

use basic stationary, I've always taken notes with paper not a tablet and if money is too tight for a laptop, your uni should have ones you can borrow somewhere like the library

Hope this helps

Spend your money for things you really need, not for things you desire or crave. Trust me, stinginess is my second name!
Hi @Hardest Job

Some great advice on here! I’d also add that apps have been a lifesaver for me supermarket apps like Lidl Plus and Tesco Clubcard really help with savings. Too Good To Go means I rarely need to buy fast food anymore. And apps like Student Beans and Unidays are great for discounts on clothes, tech, and more. Lots of our students have some brilliant tips too, especially from an international student perspective.

Yes. I don't want to argue for things. It's I like it or not.
