What university do you prefer in terms of course structure, student vibes if that’s relevant to you, location, have you checked the cost of living etc?
What university do you guys think I should choose between swansea university and the university of east anglia
Hi there,
Choosing between universities for your Pharmacy Foundation Year is such an important decision - I remember how tricky it felt when I was in your position!
Both Swansea and UEA have their own strengths, so it really comes down to what environment you think would suit you best.
Since I'm at UEA, I can share that one thing I've really appreciated is how close we are to both the city and nature. While we don't have Swansea's beachfront location, we're only about 30 minutes from the Norfolk coast - it's been great being able to pop to the seaside when I need a study break! The campus itself feels quite green and spacious, which I've found really helps with that work-life balance.
When I was deciding, I looked carefully at how each university structures their course. It might be worth comparing the module details to see which approach appeals to you more.
The student community here has been really welcoming too - there are over 200 societies where you can meet people in the same situation. If you're able to visit both unis, I'd definitely recommend it. Sometimes walking around campus and getting a feel for the place makes the decision much clearer!
Whichever you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great experience. But if you do have any questions about life at UEA, feel free to ask - I'm always happy to help.

Hello!
Firstly, I'm so pleased to hear that you're considering Swansea for your pharmacy foundation year. I'm sure that whatever university you choose will make a wonderful home for you as you begin your studies.
I'm here to give you a bit more information on Swansea to help you make your decision.
Swansea is a wonderful place to go for university, no matter your course. Swansea is a wonderful place to live because you really get the best of both worlds. The city centre is great for shopping, restaurants and nightlife. On the other hand, we have beautiful beaches and parks (right next to our campuses) for relaxing and spending time with friends. The student community in Swansea is wonderful and really helps you to settle into the city. Students are really happy here, with a recent survey finding that 100% of students asked saying they would recommend Swansea Uni! We were also proud to be chosen as Welsh University of the year for 2025 by The Times.
For the pharmacy foundation year, Swansea's course has been specifically designed to prepare students for work in the pharmaceutical world. This is done through a combination of specialist modules and a course that reflects the workplace, by encouraging co-ordination with doctors, nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals. This will really help you in your transition to the workplace!
The Swansea Pharmacy Society is thriving and organises many socials and balls for you to attend. The community of pharmacy students here at Swansea is well established and welcoming!
I hope this has helped you. If you would like anymore information please do not hesistate to get in touch. I would also recommend checking out Swansea's open days for more information and to get a feel for the campus and city itself.
