Taking STEP without UCAS Number

I am applying (from overseas) to universities, starting 2026. I'm planning to take STEP now so that I will be able to get a direct offer instead of conditional offer. The registration to the STEP papers wants an UCAS ID - do I have to include that UCAS ID on my paper to be able to use the results for my application or is it unable to be tracked otherwise?

STEP is certainly open to all, even those not applying to university (Source: https://www.ocr.org.uk/students/step-mathematics/faqs/) and so you will definitely be able to use it.

However, I think it is worth my mentioning that you are not guaranteed to get an unconditional offer from Cambridge should you apply even with achieved STEP grades. It may depend on your college (I would recommend emailing those that you are thinking of applying to) as well as other factors like the rest of your application but just note that it's not a given.
