There's no such thing as a perfect personal statement. You can write any old rubbish if your grades are amazing and you've got work experience and a solid story, no matter how it's written. Your chances if you are an overseas student are vanishingly small in any case, so make sure you have more realistic options.

It's not more important than grades and, for medicine, work experience. And there is still no 'perfect' personal statement. You just have to cover the key elements. Anyhow, I'm not sure it's going to be necessary from next year, is it? Aren't they changing to answering specific questions? That's all you need to do anyway, write a block of text that covers the specific questions
