University of Southampton or University of Leeds?

For masters in Cancer biology, which of the above universities would be better? In terms of syllabus, rankings, department etc.
Also, how are the two cities for part time jobs and full time jobs and safety, shopping, etc?
Any reviews could be helpful. Thanks.

Which course do you prefer? Look at all the optional units available, which would you actually choose if you went there?

For your other questions, look for tourist films on YouTube, TripAdvisor city reviews etc.

I have checked the all the modules of the universities and compared. Both are nearly the same. There is no significant difference. That's the reason, I am too confused.

Hi Enoughetc,

I've seen you've looked through the syllabus, so I'll try and answer your other questions.

Shopping and the city:
Southampton is filled with culture, transport links and shopping - from West Quay shopping centre (includes IKEA, John Lewis, a food court, Hollister and more), to the restaurants at Ocean Village and the student areas, there's always somewhere to go and something to do. We're also only an hour and a bit away from London, and have coaches and trains which run daily to other cities and areas around England. There's a great range of arts and culture from the touring West End shows at the Mayflower Theatre, or exhibitions at the John Hansard Gallery, and lots of museums.

A few tours for you to have a look at:

In terms of jobs, Southampton has loads of retail shops and offices to gain work experience, and the university also has its own dedicated Careers and Employability service which helps students with their CVs all the way through to helping gain part-time jobs and internships. Some information on this:

We're also home to the Cancer Immunology Centre, the UK's first centre dedicated to cancer immunology research:
and we've been at the cutting edge of cancer research since the 1970s, so you'll be joining a really cool and innovative course taught by lecturers in the forefront of their fields.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Hey! I go to Uni of Leeds now (different faculty).

There are so many shops for commercial shopping, there’s a shopping centre called Trinity in the city centre. Loads of new shops are opening too, flannels opened up not long ago. Food shopping wise, depends where you decide to live. Usually in headingly area, main shop is Sainsbury’s. Hyde park, Aldi. Woodhouse / city centre Morrisons / herons foods / Iceland.

Safety I would say it is safe! Theres been a few times where I’ve walked home from the city centre late. Never had any issues

Part time jobs- uni of Leeds offers some. The student union usually recruits people to work in co-op, fruity Friday (student night) etc…

Restaurants… so many! Leeds is a very international uni, naturally lots of new restaurants opening to meet their needs.

Unfortunately I cannot give any advice about the course itself or faculty as I am not a STEM student. Hope what I wrote helps!
