The Student Room Group

Birmingham Or Aston Physicians Associate

I got offers from both Aston and Birmingham. Initially, Birmingham was my top choice—it’s the more prestigious university on paper, with great facilities and opportunities. But after my interview at Aston, I’m honestly torn. Speaking with the staff there really changed my perspective. The way they spoke about the course made it feel so well-structured and student-focused. It seems like they genuinely care about supporting you through the program, and that’s made a big impression on me.

I’m worried that if I choose one I’ll regret not choosing the other
I’m so stuck please help.

Neither . There is no future in the PA occupation as it is now. The title and role is about to change due to patient safety concerns . Get out while you still can

Before you decide to do this course have a look at how many jobs there are. All the current PA jobs have someone working in them. To get a job you are waiting for someone to leave. If no one leaves then you won't get a job.

Getting a job after this course is important because the PA course is a vocational course that only leads to one job. If you don't get that one job the course will not help you to get any other. This might mean you getting a job that does not need a degree.

Because this course is a vocational course leading to only one job it is very important that you find out how many jobs there are. If you can't get a PA job your qualification will be worthless.

It doesn't matter how well you feel that the university supports you on the course if you can't get a job at the end of the course you will have spent all your time getting a useless qualification when you could have spent your time getting one that actually helped your employment prospects.
