Hey everyone
So I’ve been diving into CompTIA Project+ (PK0-005), and I’m curious — do most of you find the exam leans more toward theory or real-world application?
From what I’ve seen so far, it feels like a solid mix – there are some practical scenarios, but the bulk of it seems to test your understanding of project management concepts, terminology, and workflows rather than having you solve hands-on case studies. Like, you’ll definitely want to know stuff like project phases, risk responses, stakeholder roles, etc. But you’re not going to be asked to build a Gantt chart from scratch or create a WBS live in the exam (thankfully).
That said, the exam does throw in situational questions. So while it’s not “performance-based” like some other CompTIA exams, you still need to understand how to apply concepts in context. For example: “You’re leading a project and a stakeholder wants to change the scope, what’s your next step?” Kinda questions like that. So yeah, theory-heavy, but situational awareness matters.
Personally, I found that drilling with practice questions really helped connect the dots between the terms and the real-life usage. I used Pass4Future for practice – and I’ll be honest, their PK0-005 exam questions were super on point. It’s not just about repetition; they actually helped me think like the exam wants you to. If you’re preparing for Project+, definitely check them out. Their PK0-005 content covers both the theoretical and situational-style questions really well.
Anyone else feel like the exam was more theory than application? Or did I just overthink it? Would love to hear how others approached it and what resources helped the most.
