Wanting to change firm and insurance choice

What would happen if I were to change my firm and insurance University choices?
Could I do this before clearing?

i have changed my mind about my firm uni, mostly because of the distance and wanted to know what to do. i have contacted the uni that i now wish to attend and are waiting for a response. (this is a university i didn't originally apply for so is not on my ucas declined/withdrawn)
what is the process with letting ucas know?
can my firm uni decline my decision to change?

my issue is that i have put a deposit down on an accomodation and placed this uni onto my student finance. could this be changed?

i just don't want to be stuck somewhere i won't enjoy

When did you make your firm/insurance decisions? Was it within the last 14 days?

It was a while ago so i understand that i have to go through like the communication route. i just don't know whether i would be able to swap it for a uni i hadnt originally applied for
Contact UCAS regardless of how long ago you made your choices. The unis may have given blanket approval for swaps.

You may lose your accommodation deposit depending on the refund terms, so make sure you are absolutely certain.

Just to clarify - you want to apply to a new course and don't want either of your firm or insurance choices?

Have you checked with the new uni if the course is still open to applications?
If it is a change of course at a uni you’ve currently firmed or insured > speak to the uni directly.

If it is a swap of firm and insurance choice from the course you originally applied to > speak to UCAS.

If they do have spaces, and you are absolutely certain that you don't want either of your current firm/insurance choices, then you will need to call UCAS to see if you can withdraw from both of them to enable you to apply to the new uni.

(It is easy to change student finance but do check the accommodation contract you have signed regarding your deposit.)

Do NOT ask UCAS to withdraw you from your firm and insurance. This risks UCAS withdrawing your application and wouldn’t make you eligible to use extra.

You need to ask UCAS to “change my replies to decline the offers”.
This will mean that you will have declined all your offers and will be eligible to add a UCAS Extra choice.
