Should I memorise a creative writing?

Hi , I am in y11 exams are just around the corner. A lot of people online say to memorise a creative writing and adapt it to the question. What do you guys think about this. I have previously written a good creative writing on Change - A boy realises all social media has suddenly turned off and rediscovers the simple pleasures in life . Do you reckon this would be a good prompt to memorise.

For my y10 exams, I told ai to write a description of a good person, bad person, good weather and bad weather. I also gave is a few other prompts like add onomatopoeia or add some semi colons. I memorised these descriptions and wrote them word for word in the exam, I added some extra stuff but 90% of what I wrote was memorised. I got 36/40 which is decent but because I memorised so much I wrote the Q5 in less than 30mins which meant I had plenty of time for the rest of the paper.

I got like 70/80 which is grade 9. AQA will not know if you pre-plan your answer and they don't care. Just don't plagiarise. I'm not sure whether they check for AI tho.

yeah id say memorise your creative writing cuz trust me u dont have that much time at all and unless ur really good at writing on the spot then ur rlly gonna struggle. Mines is also about change (literally about me moving house) and i got 36/40 on my mocks. my teacher is an aqa examiner so its rly effective to memorise and adapt

trust me just get ai to generate one and ask it to include all the things examiners r looking for and if it looks too detailed and un-human like just put it in some humaniser or smth

it's pretty weird. If you find an essay on google and memorise it exactly as it is with the same plot and descriptions and characters and etc, then you will be flagged for plagiarism. If you write, say, a chapter of Harry Potter in your exam, you'll be flagged for plagiarism. Instead, you should, look at example essays online and adapt it quite a lot to ensure that it looks like your own original work. For example, change the plot, setting, dialogue, etc, significantly so you aren't plagiarising.
As for memorising, YES, absolutely, as long as you haven't plagiarised the text, use a good piece of writing and ask your teacher to mark it, then adapt it to the question,
best of luck for your exams!

about ai, ask ai for ideas, e.g. plot, but you really shouldn't be using ai to write the complete essay for you, and also, ai is not very accurate, what ai thinks is a grade 9 essay may only be grade 6, so please be careful

I wouldn't, feels like a waste of time. I wonder if you could memorise some short, high quality descriptions and maybe a structure? I used: Drop: enter the description while it's in action. Zoom: describe one thing in detail. Shift: go back or forward in time with the same setting, or shift to a different place. Return: Short description of the scene- has it changed is it the same? Leave: however you began the description end it that way- I did this by starting with something like a bird flying by, car driving past, weather description. That way you get cyclical structure.

I recommend looking at Q5 first and having a quick think. Then do Q1 and 3 for instance, then return to Q5. That way you have time as it's the most weighted. Hope that helps.

I got a 9  structure was really useful. I think I talked about a bird flying into a desert and then how it used to be a jungle (the prompt was easy- describe a hot place), and the description ended as the bird flew out of frame. I discussed effects of climate change as a result. The exam board loves a bigger message throughout, so try to link it in to a wider issue or phenomenon if that makes sense. Hope exams go well 👍

piece of advice, if you decided to do the description of the photo, it does not have to be limited to the photo. the question is always write a story/description SUGGESTED by this photo. and also, absolutely feel free to go outside the frame, and also, i don't even think the examiner can see the exact photo so as long as it aint complete bonkers, write what u want. they don't know about temp, weather, anything outside the shot

Also avoid cliches! No examiner will be impressed by "soft as clouds" or "sparkled like diamonds", but being creative will be rewarded

As a uni student now I definitely recommend you do that as that’s your perfect attempt but try getting this marked from your school teacher making sure u achieve those high grades don’t use a story from online trying using Ai for some help and inspo but don’t copy word for word
