student finance putting my application under post grad?

Hi, so ive completed my student finance appliaction but instead of it showing up under undergrad applications its showing on post grad applications. Im wondering if this is normal or if i should try to ring them sometime soon just incase ?

Some info is that i did go to uni for 2 course years back when i was 18 and i dropped out. Im planning on going back this year via a foundation year under a comletely different course and university. Also i only applied for the maintence loan as i know i have to fund the first year of tuition fees myself.

Hi Isabelo,

It shouldn't be showing as a Postgraduate application if it is an undergraduate course. Can you confirm what it says when you click on the application on your online account?

Hi it did go back into the undergrad section after a few days. i also wanted to ask about the past qualifacations section if possible? it asks if you got a qualification , however since i only studied for 2 years i got a certificate of higher education. i was wondering if i have to tick yes to getting a qualification and how it would effect any maintence and tuition loans i could get ?

Hi Isabelo,

You would select yes if you have previous study and would need to indicate the current level of qualification you currently hold.

Yes, previous study in higher education is taken into account however, you indicated in your initial query you are aware of the implications of your previous study and that you need to self fund the Tuition Fees in the first year of the new course.

Thanks, Clare

thank you ! since im doing a foundation 4 year course i should only have to pay for the first year right and not the first 2 years? sorry i read some controdicting info about tuitions fees when you have a COHE. Also when i press that i do have a qualification it doesnt allow me to specify what qualification i have. would that automatically be assumed since i dont have 3 years of studying?

Hi Isabelo,

The previous study calculation is The course length + 1 additional year- previous study.

If the new course is 4 years long and you have 2 years of previous study, the calculation would be 4+1-2= 3 years, this means that you would self fund the 1st year and you would be fully funded for the remainder of the course. Again, if your new course was 3 years in length it would be 3+1-2= 2 years, again, only the first year would be affected.

Thanks, Clare
