Withdrawal from course and SFE application for Teacher training

Can you please advise. I am currently a LLB Law student and receive tuition and full maintenance for my course. My course is due to end in February 2026.In the meantime, I have been accepted to start my ITT teacher training (PGCE, unsalaried route) in September 2025, which I accepted and want to do.I tried to apply for finance for my ITT but I believe the system won't allow it because it considers I will still be a student of my Law degree, is that correct? My questions are: - What do I need to do to complete my finance/maintenance application to the PGCE teacher training on the SFE website?- Do I need to withdraw from my LLB law course first and supply SFE evidence of this?- How soon do I need to do that? As a student, I do need the current maintenance payments, and I am aware that they will be all repayable once I start working as a Teacher. - Can you confirm how SFE will calculate my future entitlement to maintenance once I start my PGCE in September please?Thank you very much

Hi sophiaf1990,

You would only have withdrawal notification sent to SFE from your university if you did indeed withdraw from the previous course early. Otherwise, you should just apply as a new student online for your PGCE course. It is calculated the same way as any other undergraduate application.

Thanks, Clare
